In the last publication, I told in simple words about the principle of pregnancy tests, where I mentioned that sometimes the second strip is poorly visible, and it is necessary to repeat the test in a few days. In this article, we will understand why the pregnancy test shows the second strip weakly.
Briefly about the pregnancy test: it determines the presence of the hormone hCG, which is released in women at the onset of pregnancy. The first strip on the test is responsible for its suitability, and the second – just for the presence of hCG in the urine.
The second strip on the test:
- Intensely colored – 99% of what a woman is pregnant.
- Missing – the woman is not pregnant.
- There is no first or second strip – a defective or expired pregnancy test.
if the second strip is pale and indistinct (“weak”), then the most likely cause is a weak concentration of the hormone hcg in the urine.
the reason for this may be a recent fertilization. the fact is that in the first week, the concentration of hcg is so small that it is very poorly determined (or not at all determined) by a pregnancy test.
Also, a weak second strip may cause a violation of the instructions. The test should be carried out in the morning on an empty stomach, so that there are no impurities in the body of liquids drunk during the day.
if you have a “weak” second strip-you need to repeat the test in 2-3 days in the morning and on an empty stomach.
